NCOA

On November 23rd, 2008 the USPS passed new standards for mailing list hygiene for all 1st class and standard automation mail. Under the new requirements, mailers must have cleaned their mailing list within the past 95 days. If a mailing is found to be out of compliance, the USPS could apply postage surcharges as significant as $.07 per record. One way to make sure you are compliant is to run your mailing list through NCOA.

 

NCOA stands for National Change of Address. We match your records to the USPS database of address changes and update your mailing list with current move information where available. This results in a cleaner, more efficient mailing list.

 

We return to you 2 files. One contains undeliverable addresses that have been removed from your mailing list. The second file contains all the records that were corrected with current move information through NCOA Processing.

 

You can then use these results to update your database.  If you need further assistance, The Mailworks is here to help.

 

By using our NCOA service you have complied with the postal requirements for Move Update. This does not mean your mailing list is 100% deliverable. There may have been records that were unable to be updated by the NCOA process, (for example, records missing specific suite or apartment numbers) which could result in returned mail.

 

To complete your NCOA you must fill out all highlighted fields on the following form:

(The Mailworks cannot submit a NCOA unless all the required fields are completely filled out.)
